Job title: Regional Operations Manager UK

Location: Bedford (UK) with satellite team at Tamworth

Function/Business Unit: Operations

Reporting to: CEO TPI

Direct reports: Planning Manager (x1), Client Services Manager (x1); Quality Manager (x1); Customs Clerk (x1)

Purpose of the role:

To manage all aspects of business operations for TPI in the UK region.  Responsible for all processes relating to international air, road, and sea shipments of pharmaceutical and healthcare products under GDP conditions.  To manage Operational and Administrative direct reports, responsible for management of internal and external transport suppliers. Manage in-house customs team and ensure compliance to HMRC relating to customs declarations. Act as a Key Client contact, responsible to ensure that Client agreements are executed to agreed terms and conditions.  Deliver to regional budget and ensure account profitability through accurate carrier selection, rate quotations and cost management.

Geographical Coverage:

UK & Tamworth with some off-site travel and overnight stays.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Day-to-day management of the departmental resource to ensure that Client workload is addressed in a timely and efficient manner.
  2. To ensure that suppliers operate according to agreed SLA’s and rate agreements.
  3. To ensure that Client orders are planned in line with expected service conditions, dates and Client agreements
  4. Ensure staff training and development plans are in place
  5. Lead and support Client review meetings with accurate and informative data regarding contract operations.
  6. Ensure that Client contracts are executed in line with agreed charging structures and maximise revenue and income to TPI Transport available through performance and gain-share models
  7. Manage the on-site administration resource to ensure invoices and purchase orders are submitted accurately and on time.
  8. Support Quality Dept in adherence to quality program and answer queries relating to transport deviations, Client audits and carrier performance.
  9. Lead investigate root cause to transport non-conformances and ensure corrective measures can be implemented
  10. Work with TPI procurement team to ensure best value transport suppliers are being engaged.
  11. Carry out operating process reviews across the business to ensure most effective and compliant procedures implemented.
  12. Support business development team in identifying new business opportunities and preparing / validate operational responses to Client enquiries.
  13. Work with new Clients during implementation period and ensure that correct operating solutions are executed in time with Client expectations.
  14. Manage processes relating to import/export customs procedures & ensure TPI remains within trade compliance regulations.
  15. Manage Claims in line with group guidelines and communicate with insurers on any Freight Liability concerns; ensure claims against suppliers are communicated in a timely manner with correct detail to safeguard TPI interests.
  16. Work with TPI Regional leads in other countries to deliver consistent solutions and implement best practices and processes.
  17. Support Walden Group transport initiatives and work in close collaboration with other group companies (Movianto, ETP, Ciblex).

Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience of working within a similar function in Transport or Freight Forwarding environment.
  • Experience within Pharmaceutical and/or Healthcare Industry desirable

  • Computer literate in Microsoft applications
  • Able to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Able to complete work with minimal supervision
  • Able to work within a team and individually

Qualifications:

  • Degree educated or equivalent
